Joe's - A Waste of Money and Our Time

This was our second visit to Joe's Italian Cafe'. The first time we stopped in there were about 4 other patrons in the place and we thought, "Oh, oh. Maybe we made a bad choice". But it was all non-smoking so we stayed and decided to try a pasta dish and a thin crust pizza to get a sampling of each. The food came out quickly and piping hot. It was pretty good and the service was great. Joe, who was tending bar stopped by out table to make sure everything was satisifactory. We told him it was. Left the wait person a nice tip and decided we'd return. On our second visit the experience was less than satisfactory. The restaurant was busier and the service seemed confused and inconsistent. We received hot crusty bread right away and a salad dripping in overly sweet honey mustard dressing arrived soon after the bread. Then the service seemed to stop completely. Joe spent the rounds to tables where he obviously knew the patrons. Even though one table that was right next to ours he only glanced our way a few times while we sat without entrees after about a half hour and drinks went unrefilled. He never checked on us once. Our food came out later still and was barely luke warm. The server dropped the dishes and disappeared never to return. By then it was 8 pm and we were so hungry we ate the nearly cold pasta dishes. Then came the long long wait for the check. Another 20 minutes passed without service and just when we were going to go to the bar to ask for our tab a waitress showed up and asked, "So, did that hit the spot?" It was a little late to be asking that question so we just nodded, paid in cash and left quickly. By then Joe was blocking the entrance way talking to 2 "buddies" and we had to ask them to move so we could get to the door. The owner never even said so much as, "Thank you for coming". So in return all we can reply now is, "You're welcome. But we certainly won't be back. Oh, by the way, you should treat new patrons as well as the old or you'll never get any new patrons. So long Joe old pal! We've got better Italian restaurants in Addison to spend our time and money in.
