Gooooooooood Lord, that is a ton of food!! Okay, I am not sure if you have ever been to a Churrascaria Brazilian Steakhouse, but translated it means “a ton of food!”… a loose translation, but that is what it means to me!!
Okay, picture this… I am going to a business meeting with three other folks, and they insisted that we go to Fogo De Chao for lunch. Now I have been to other places like this, and recognized them to be fun spots to go to for a special occasion, a low carb binge, or a last meal before converting to a vegetarian. Which ever one, it was for a special reason… not just for lunch!! Well, to each his/her own I guess…
Let me set the mood… you walk in, and they have 4 monster skewers spinning huge slabs of garlic encrusted beef around a fire pit… My almost vegan sister in law would just come up short of fainting at this sight… I knew that day, my omnivore instinct was going to be leaning towards carnivorous side of the spectrum that day! Talk about getting protein in your diet!!
You start out with this AMAZING salad bar, that, in my opinion, is truly top notch… Fresh Hearts of Palm, whole artichoke hearts (they looked like pear halves!!), fresh cheeses, home made dressings… I could have just enjoyed this and called it a day!! However, they have these little coaster that are like a secret code… There is a red and green side… the red side is self explanatory… However, if you have it turned to the green side, all the different kinds of meats are brought to your table, and are sliced for you to your hearts content!! Truly, these men, in Brazilian gaucho pants, walking around with a skewer of meat in one hand, and a knife in the other. Strange sight, but welcomed if you are hungry!! They have all kinds of assorted meats, like beef (filet, rib eye, etc), Chicken (thigh, breast wrapped in bacon, etc.), Lamb… The list seems to go on and on!! Truly, if you have an appetite, and want a wonderful dining experience, I would definitely put Fogo De Chao on your radar.
…however, I caution it for lunch… at least for yours truly… I was ready to impersonate my cat, and curl up in a ball, basking in the sun for an afternoon nap… Seems kind of rude during a board meeting, huh?
Until the next Dish is served!
