Has it really been ten years? You bet!

The Festival of Independent Theatres, or FIT as it's commonly called, is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a festival featuring ten local theater companies for four weeks of "eagerly anticipated" performance at the Bath House Cultural Center.

Celebrate with us!

This summer, you are invited to “Join in the Celebration” as the companies perform works by Tennessee Williams, John Patrick Shanley, William Inge, and local playwrights Isabella Russell-Ides and Thomas Riccio. Seven theater companies return to the FIT fold from last summer's roster while three first-timers are stepping up to make their first-ever FIT appearance.

Water Tower Theatre-July 17th 0August 17th

Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim; Book by Burt Shevelove & Larry Gelbart

“Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!" A wily slave schemes, cajoles and manipulates all of ancient Rome to win his freedom in this uproarious musical farce by Stephen Sondheim. Hailed as one of the American musical theatre’s comedic masterpieces, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum combines a swaggering general, a dippy maiden, a doddering old man and a stable of sexy courtesans in a high-energy, high-jinx combination of vaudeville and burlesque.

The Winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical!
